Kamloops City Councillor Katie Neustaeter motions to move the Mayor’s Report to the bottom of the agenda for the next 607 days. Let’s review the childish behaviour that led up to this.
Unauthorized Walkouts
On multiple occasions, councillors have chosen to walk out of council meetings while Mayor Reid Hamer Jackson is speaking. This has created a situation where there is no longer quorum for the meeting, and it has to be adjourned.
Petty Motions
After public complaints about parts of the meetings being skipped, councillors changed their tactics. The councillors started making motions to move the Mayor’s Report further down or to the bottom of the agenda. This allows our tremendously dedicated councillors the option of walking out during the Mayor’s Report without anything important on the agenda getting skipped.

Screwing The Mayor Again
In a very blatant act of screwing over the Mayor yet again, Neustaeter today motioned to move the Mayor’s Report to the bottom of the agenda for the next 607 days! The motion was immediately seconded by Councillor Bepple.
You can view the video below to listen to the idiocy that follows.
Plot Twist
When the Mayor asked if this was discussed in a prior meeting a long silence followed. He asked again and Neustaeter delivered one of her now famous condescending monologues describing how it’s normal to have discussions.
What may have surprised the councillors, who were all in favour of the motion, is that the Mayor was in favour as well, making the decision unanimous. Bravo Mayor Hamer-Jackson! I mean why not? Our infamous councillors can pass any motion they like with their 8-1 votes.
I Object!
I hope my sarcasm isn’t lost on council, as I sent them an email following the incident.

After many emails that have gone unanswered and unacknowledged from council, I’m not expecting a reply. I do hope that Honourable Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs adds it to the growing evidence of Council’s continuous bullying and harassment of the Mayor.
Coupled with disgraced Councillor Bill Sarai’s edited recording of his argument with the Mayor, and the increasingly enlightened public, we can hope that Municipal Affairs takes action against this council. This may be the fuel that is needed to introduce a way for the public to remove a council member at any point in their term for reasonable cause.
Can anyone say this is the expected behaviour of the council we elected? When will they grow up?
