Princess Katie Engages With Bad Things

Kamloops City Councillor Katie Neustaeter made a surprise comment on a post in the popular Facebook group WHEN BAD THINGS HAPPEN IN KAMLOOPS. One of the replies to her comment referred to her as “princess”. This isn’t the first time frequenters of the group have seen this moniker used in reference to Neustaeter.

Neustaeter should be commended for spending time with people who aren’t generally a fan of hers. I hope she continues to do so. I won’t go any easier on her, but I’m pretty sure she can handle some honest criticism.

The Facebook post conveyed the frustration experienced due to the many taxes we face. It mentioned the new speculation tax as one of them. The author didn’t claim this tax had anything to do with the city. Neustaeter however, made it excessively clear in her comment that it isn’t a municipal tax. I’m giving her a thumbs up anyways as she did provide some clarity around the tax.

City Council has essentially taken away the public’s ability to express their concerns in a way that offers a meaningful exchange. With that in mind, I’m pleased Neustaeter has taken an interest in BAD THINGS. Local Kamloops Citizens United member Coley Ecker points out in a recent post that we should remain respectful when replying to councillors who take the time to engage with us. I agree.

I’ll give Neustaeter another thumbs up when she encourages her disgraced colleague Bill Sarai to do the right thing and resign. The public is not going to forgive or forget about his atrocious behaviour. He is not going to be able to regain our trust. Kamloops Citizens United (KCU) launched a petition late last year, and currently has over 1600 signatures. Add your signature here.
